英語中由介詞與名詞構成的固定搭配也不少，請看以下幾個考例：
【考例1】What would you like to do ________ such a bad boy? (貴州安順中考題)
A. with B. on C. at D. in
【分析】答案選A。do with為固定搭配，意為“處置”“處理”“對付”等，通常與疑問詞what連用。又如：What shall I do with it? 怎樣處置它好呢?
【考例2】—Susan, I’d like you to help me ________ my math.
—With pleasure. (湖南益陽中考題)
A. for B. in C. with
【分析】答案選C。help sb with sth為固定搭配，意為“幫助某人做某事”。又如：Please help me with this luggage. 請幫我搬這行李。Please help me with this maths problem.請幫我解答這道數學題。
考點5 考查常用短語介詞的用法
初中英語所學的短語介詞不多，值得注意的有以下一些：
as for 至于 as to 至于
because of 因為 instead of 代替，而不
according to 根據 near to 在……的附近
next to 緊挨著，緊次于 thanks to 多虧，由于
in case of 如果，萬一，以防 in front of 在…前面
in need of 需要 in place of 代替(www.52ysedu.com)
in search of 尋找，搜找 in return for 作為……的報答
【考例】—________ the heavy rain, we didn’t go camping last Sunday.
—What a pity! (山東威海中考題)
A. Thanks to B. Because of C. Instead of D. As for
【分析】答案選B。四個復合介詞的意思分別為：thanks to=多虧；because of=因為；instead of=而不是；as for=至于。比較四個選項的意思，顯然只有B最符合句意。
考點6 在特定語境中考查介詞的用法
在特定語境中考查介詞用法時，考生一定要注意體會句子上下文的語境，尤其是抓住考題中的關鍵詞，然后聯系所給選項，從中選出最符合句意的答案來。
【考例1】—Can you see some people are waiting ________ the library?
—Yes, They are standing in a queue in front of its gate. (四川成都中考題)
A. around B. inside C. outside D. under
【分析】答案選C。根據對話中They are standing in a queue in front of its gate（他們在大門前排起了長隊）可知，他們是在“外面”等，故選C。
【考例2】—It is said that a new zoo will be built in our town.
—I’m ________ it. Zoos are terrible for animals. (湖北宜昌中考題)
A. through B. besides C. against D. except
【分析】答案選C。根據對話中的Zoos are terrible for animals（動物園對動物來說太可怕了）可知，說話者反對建動物園，故選C。介詞against的意思是“反對”，又如：Are you for it or against it? 你是贊成還是反對？
