1. 用作名詞，意為“地址”，注意以下有用表達：
Please leave a contact address. 請留下聯系地址。
To which address did you send it? 你把東西寄到哪個地址去了？
He gave neither name nor address. 他既沒有留下姓名，也沒有留下地址。
Please send the parcel to the above address. 請把包裹寄到上述地址。
I would write to her, but I don’t know her address. 我會給她寫信的，就是不知道她的地址。
另外，還要注意以下搭配：“家庭住址”“私人住址”是home address / private address，“辦公地址”是business address，“回信地址”是return address，“郵寄地址”是postal address，“詳細地址”是full address，“固定地址”是fixed address。
2. 用作動詞，注意以下用法：
(1) 表示“寫地址”或“寫信給”。如：
Please address these letters. 請把這些信寫上地址。
The card was wrongly addressed to our old home. 那張明信片誤寫了我們的舊地址。
(2) 表示“向……講話”（及物），屬正式用法。如：
The mayor addressed the crowd. 市長向群眾講話。
Address your remarks to me, please. 請把你的意見向我說吧。
(3) 用于 address oneself to, 意為“著手”“致力于”。如：
She addressed herself to the main difficulty. 他致力地解決主要困難。
■admire v.
1. 是及物動詞，通常的結構是admire sb, admire sth, admire sb for sth。如：
They admired him very much. 他們很欽佩他。
They admired his workmanship. 他們很欽佩她的手藝。
They admired him for his workmanship. 他們很欽佩她的手藝。
注意不要受漢語影響漏掉必要的賓語。如：
我欽佩她的勇氣。
誤：I admire for her bravery.
正：I admire her for her bravery.
他的事業非常成功，他的朋友都很羨慕！
誤：He was very successful in his business and all his friends admired!
正：He was very successful in his business and all his friends admired him!
2. 其后有時可接 what 從句。如：
We admire (him for) what he has done. 我們對他所做的事很欽佩。
但是，一般不接that 從句。如：
我們佩服他的誠實。
誤：We admire that he is honest.
正：We admire (him for) his honesty.
3. 有時還可后接動名詞（通常有邏輯主語）。如：
They all admired his believing in that manner. 他們都贊賞他那樣做。
4. 漢語說“你不得不佩服……”，英語可用以下類似表達：
You can only admire her courage and determination. 你不能不佩服她的勇氣和決心。
You have to admire their dedication and commitment. 你不得不佩服他們的盡心竭力。
It was a rash thing to do, yet one cannot but admire her courage. 這事做得過于魯莽，然而不能不佩服她的勇氣。
