2. THE “IMPORTANT” GROUP

These adjectives indicate that something is important.

(1) essential 極其重要的;必不可少的

It is essential for our own peace and security that Russia continues to play the positive role on which President Gorbachev embarked and which President Yeltsin is set to continue and to develop.

(2) important  重要的;重大的

It is important for the north of England that King’s Cross is allowed to proceed.

(3) vital 極其重要的;必不可少的

Friend’s constituents will recognise that it is vital for the future prosperity of Swindon that those schemes be implemented as quickly as possible.

3. ADJECTIVE WITH OTHER MEANINGS 

There is one other adjective, enough, which has this pattern. 例如:

What she should do when she got there was something Jocelyn hadn’t bothered to work out. It was enough for her that if she got there it should take the Chalet School folk some time to find her.

 

5.2.1.3 “It+v-link+形容詞+of+名詞+ that從句

(1) characteristic 典型的;獨特的

It is characteristic of frogs and toads that live in more stable or predictable environments.

(2) typical 不出所料的;特有的

It is typical of Richard that he accepted the task with alacrity and succeeded with such brilliance that almost overnight he became recognized as a famous warrior.

 

5.2.1.4 “It+v-link+形容詞+to+名詞+ that從句

1. THE “OBVIOUS” GROUP

These adjectives indicate that something is obvious. 

(1) apparent 顯而易見的;明白的

It is apparent to faculty and students alike that the reforms in both content and pedagogy have changed the learning experience.

(2) clear 明白無誤的;明顯的

It is clear to me that conscious decisions were made to conceal evidence and/or ignore the truth.

(3) evident 明顯的;明白的

It was evident to me that he was not telling the truth.

(4) obvious 明顯的;易理解的

It is obvious to the casual observer that reporters do not read their own paper.

(5) plain 明白的;顯而易見的

It is plain to any reader of this overblown psychodrama that at no point did Pollan place at risk even the smallest portion of his comfortable station.

2. THE “FAIR”AND “LUDICROUS” GROUP

These adjectives indicate that something is good or bad in some way.

根據John Sinclair主編的COLLINS COBUILD GRAMMAR PATTERNS2: NOUNS AND ADJECTIVES(上海外語教育出版社 200011月第1) P486,以下形容詞可用于此句型:crazy, disappointing, fair, gratifying, ironic, logical, ludicrous, painful

(1) crazy 古怪的;不明智的

And it is crazy to me that we can just keep saying the name Marco Rubio, Marco Rubio, Marco Rubio, and all of a sudden that’s a Republican immigration policy.

(2) disappointing 令人失望的;令人沮喪的

It was very disappointing to me that Lisa felt this way.

(3) fair 公平的;合理的

It seemed only fair to me that she should have the money.

(4) gratifying 令人高興的;令人滿意的

It was gratifying to me that he approved the political and economic articles I was writing for the New English Weekly.

(5) ironic 出乎意料的;令人啼笑皆非的

And it’s ironic to me that they would call me to do voiceover for anything.

(6) logical 合情合理的

I thought about it and it seemed logical to me that Lan would need a car.

(7) ludicrous 荒唐的;愚蠢荒謬的

It seemed ludicrous to me that they didn’t know.

3. THE “IMPORTANT” GROUP

These adjectives indicate that something is important. 

(1) crucial 至關重要的;關鍵性的

It is crucial to the success of the new format that the pitches themselves should produce a fair balance between bat and ball.

(2) important 重要的;重大的

It is important to workers, clients and their families, and to agencies that the care plan represent client goals and that all parties agree about services to be provided.

4. THE “INTERESTING” GROUP

These adjectives indicate that something is interesting, unusual, or

(1) amazing 令人驚詫的;讓人難以相信的

It is amazing to me that he conducted his business dealings this way for years.

(2) astonishing 令人驚訝的

It is astonishing to me that the state Board of Education is allowed such sweeping power!

(3) bizarre 古怪的;奇異的

I mean, it’s a little bizarre to me that a man -- a grown man is wandering the streets wearing a robe and mumbling.
