1. 表示與某人結(jié)婚，marry 通常用作及物動詞，不要受漢語的影響，在其后用介詞 with 或 to。如：
正：She married a teacher. 她同一位教師結(jié)了婚。
誤：She married with [to] a teacher.
有時不說出結(jié)婚的對象，也可用作不及物動詞。不過此時多半會有狀語修飾。如：
Her father married again. 她爸爸又結(jié)婚了。
He married (when he was) very early. 他結(jié)婚很早。
在口語或非正式文體中，不及物用法的 marry 通常用 get married。如：
They got married in 1987. 他們是1980年結(jié)婚的。
2. 表示婚姻的狀況，通常用 be married。注意：其中的 married是形容詞而不是過去分詞。如：
她結(jié)婚沒有?
正：Is she married?
誤：Did she marry? /Has she married?
3. marry 和 get married 均為非延續(xù)性動詞，通常不與一段時間連用。若要表示某人結(jié)婚有多久，可用 be married。如：
誤：They’ve (got) married for 20 years.
正：They’ve been married for 20 years. 他們結(jié)婚20年了。
4. be married 和 get married 之后可接介詞 to(不能用 with)引出結(jié)婚的對象。如：
誤：She was [got] married with him.
正：She was [got] married to him. 她同他結(jié)了婚。
◆matter n. & v.
1. 用作名詞，與 the 連用，表示“亂子”、“毛病”(相當(dāng)于形容詞 wrong)，其后通常連用的介詞是 with。如：
What’s the matter with her? 她怎么啦?
Is (there) anything the matter? 出了什么事嗎?
He has something the matter with his stomach. 他的肚子有點(diǎn)不舒服。
注：在 What’s the matter (with……)? 這一結(jié)構(gòu)里，what是主語，the matter 是表語(=wrong)。因此在賓語從句中應(yīng)注意其語序: I don’t know what is the matter. 我不知道出了什么事。
比較：I don’t know what the matter is. 我不知道這種物質(zhì)是什么。
2. 表示“事情”、“問題”，在以下表達(dá)中，用介詞of 或 for 均可：
It’s a matter of [for] congratulation (complaint, rgret).
那是件是值得慶賀(令人抱怨、令人遺憾)的事。
但是以下表達(dá)通常用介詞 of：
It’s a matter of time (money, habit, form). 那是一個時間(錢、習(xí)慣、形式)問題。
3. 用作動詞，是不及物動詞，主要用于否定句、疑問句或條件句中，意為“要緊”、“關(guān)系重要”，多用 it 作主語。如：
It matters little who is elected. 誰當(dāng)選無關(guān)緊要。
It will not matter if you come home late. 即使你回家晚了也沒關(guān)系。
針對某人而言，后接介詞 to；針對某事或做事而言，后接介詞about。如：
What does it matter to you? 這對你有什么關(guān)系?
It doesn’t matter about closing the window. 關(guān)上窗子沒有關(guān)系。
偶爾也用于肯定句中。如：
Some things matter more than others. 有些事情更重要。
