4. 注意：three holidays 是“三個假期”，不是“三天假期”。表示后者可以用: a holiday of three days / three days’ holiday / a three-day holiday。
◆home n. & adv.
1. 可用作名詞或副詞，但要注意：用于 go, come, get, arrive, send, take, bring, return, drive 等表示運動的動詞之后的 home 是副詞，不能在其前用介詞 to, at之類的介詞。如以下各誤句中的 home前的介詞均應去掉：
誤：Let’s go to home.
誤：He arrived at home at seven.
誤：When did he return to home?
注：在 on one’s way home 這類短語中，home 仍為副詞，所以其前也不用介詞 to。(比較：on one’s way to the factory)
但是值得注意的是，若 home 前有物主代詞修飾，home 則為名詞，其前可用介詞。如：
She went to her parents’ home. 她去了她父母家。
2. 正如上面已說，作為副詞 home 前不能用介詞 to, 同樣也不用介詞 on, in 等。但值得注意的是，它可用下列介詞 at, from, near, for, without 等：stay at home(呆在家里)，far from home(離家很遠)，leave for home(動身回家)，without friends and withouthome(無親無友)等。
3. 表示“在家”這一概念，英國英語一般用 at home, 而美國英語卻只用 home(不用介詞)。如：
Is anybody (at) home? 有人在家嗎?
注意以下說法均不合英語習慣：
誤：He is in home. /He is at the home. /He is in the home.
表示“在……的家里”，可用“at＋所有格”這一形式。如：at the Smiths’ (在史密斯家)，at my uncle’s(在我叔叔家)
另外須注意的是，at home除表示“在家”外，還可表示(在規定時間)在家接待客人或指像在家一樣舒服自在。如：(www.52ysedu.com)
He’s in, but he’s not at home. 他在家，但他不會客。
Make yourself at home. 請別拘束(別客氣)。
有時還可表示“熟悉”、“精通”、“運用自如”。如：
She was at home with everyone in this place. 她和這個地方的每一個人都混得很熟。
He is quite at home in modern history. 他精通現代史。
◆homework n.
表示“家庭作業”、“課外作業”，為不可數名詞。如：
He never did any homework. 他從不做作業。
I have a lot of homework to do. 我有許多家庭作業要做。
◆hono(u)r n. .
1. 泛指一般意義的“榮譽”、“光榮”、“信譽”等，是不可數名詞；具體指“使感到光榮的事或人”或“榮幸”等，是可數名詞，但多用單數形式。如：
To lose honour is more than to lose life. 失去信譽(榮譽)甚于失去生命。
It’s a great honour to receive that prize. 能獲得那個獎中無上的榮耀。
比較：
H brought honour to his family. 他為家庭爭了光。
He is an honour to his family. 他是全家人的光榮。
2. 注意以下同義句型(同時注意其搭配特點)，多為正式用法：
我們參加了他的生日晚會以表示對他的敬意。
正：We attended his birthday party to do him honour.
正：We attended his birthday party to do honour to him.
