一般說來，它不與那些已含有 again 意義的動詞連用，以免構成用詞重復。如：
請再說一遍。
正: Please repeat it. / Please say it again.
誤: Please repeat it again.(www.52ysedu.com)
但是有時為了強調(diào)，again 本身卻可以疊用。如：
He made the same mistake again and again. 他反復犯同樣的錯誤。
有時也可見 again 與 repeat 之類的詞連用，但那表示的是第三次而不是第二次。如：
He had to repeat it again. 他只好又重復了一遍(即連同原來的第一遍和第二遍共計三遍)。
◆against prep.
1. 有兩個主要意思：
(1) 表示“反對”、“對著”等。如：
We are all against his idea. 我們都反對他的想法。
He was married against his will. 他結婚是有違本意的。
(2) 表示“靠著”、“頂著”、“迎著”、“襯著”等。如：
Her desk is against the wall. 她的辦公桌靠墻放著。
The red flag looks very bright against the blue sky. 紅旗在藍天的襯托下顯得十分鮮艷。
2. 注意 against 是介詞，不是動詞。如：
這個計劃你是贊成還是反對呢?
正：Are you for or against the plan?
誤：Do you support or against the plan?
他靠在樹上。
正：He leaned against the tree.
誤：He against the tree.
◆age n.
1. 表示“年齡”，注意以下常見表達：
He’s ten (years old). / He’s ten years of age. 他10歲。
How old is he? / What’s his age? / What age is he? 他多大年紀?
I have a son (of) your age. / I have a son the same age of you. 我有一個像你這樣大小的兒子。
Their ages are ten and twelve. 他們的年齡分別是10 歲和12歲。
2. 表示“在……年齡時”，英語通常用 at the age of＋數(shù)字，有時可省略成 at age＋數(shù)字，或只用 at＋數(shù)字。如：
他25歲結婚。
正：He got married at (the age of) 25.
正：He got married at age 25.
3. 漢語中的“他年紀大(輕)”，在英語中不能直譯為 His age is old (young). 可譯為 He is old (young).
同樣地：英語中通常說 at the early age of 30 (年僅30歲)，一般不說 at the young age of 30(雖偶見此用法，但初學者不宜模仿)。
但有趣的是，英語中通常不說 young age, 但卻可以說 old age
(老年)和 middle age(中年)。如：
Who is going to look after them in their old age? 他們年老的時候誰來照顧他們呢?
A person of 40 has reached middle age. 一個人滿了40歲就算進入了中年。
4. 表示“時期”、“時代”，多用單數(shù)形式；在口語中可引申指“很長時間”，可用復數(shù)形式也可用單數(shù)形式。如：
The 18th century was the golden age of the novel. 18世紀是小說的黃金時代。
It’s ages [an age] since we last met. 我們好久沒見面了。
(I) Haven’t seen you for ages [an age]. 好久不見了。
