七、規則硬套型

1. 站在門口的那個人是誰?

誤：Who is the man who was standing at the door?

正：Who is the man that was standing at the door?

析：當先行詞指人時，引導定語從句的關系代詞用who或that。有的同學套用這個規則，結果寫出誤句。當主句中有who, which 以及指示代詞that, those時，后面定語從句中的關系代詞應避免與主句的同形。因此,本句中引導定語從句的關系代詞應為that。

2. 你做得越早越好。

誤：The more sooner you will do it, the more better it will be. 

正：The sooner you do it, the better it will be. 

析：表示“越…越…”，用比較級句型the more… the more.其中more代表形容詞或副詞的比較級，而不能死搬硬套。另外，此句型前半部分是比較狀語從句，后一個是主句。主句是一般將來時態時，從句要用一般現在時代替將來時。

3. 我不喜歡游泳，他也是。

誤：I don’t like swimming, so does he.

正：I don’t like swimming, neither / nor does he.

析：如果前面所說的是一種肯定的情況，而且這種情況也適合于后一個人，則用so+助動詞+主語。如果前面所說的是一種否定的情況，則用neither / nor+助動詞+主語。是根據前一句而不是后一句。此句漢語的“他也是”指“他也不喜歡”。

4. 他說他感到不舒服。我問他怎么啦。

誤：He said he didn’t feel well and I asked what the matter was.

正：He said he didn’t feel well and I asked what was the matter.

析：學習賓從要注意，陳述語序記心里。而 What’s the matter? What’s wrong? 這兩個句子結構都是主+系+表。其中what是句子的主語，所以在賓語從句中時，都沒有語序的變化。

5. 那個老師的課枯燥無味，是不是?

誤：The teacher’s class was uninteresting, was it?

正：The teacher’s class was uninteresting, wasn’t it?

正：The teacher’s class was not interesting, was it?

析：反意疑問句中，如果陳述部分用肯定，疑問部分怎用否定，同樣，前否定后肯定。這里的肯定和否定是指結構上而不是意義上。如果陳述部分帶有un-, im-, dis-等前綴構成的派生詞，該陳述句仍作肯定處理，疑問部分應用否定形式。

6. 直到懷特先生回來，湯姆才離開。

誤：It was until Mr. White came back that Tom didn’t leave.

正：It was not until Mr. White came back that Tom left.

析：強調句結構為It + be的一定形式+被強調成分+that / who…。但如果句子中含有not…until時，應該將not同until置于be后。
