(37) startling令人吃驚的;驚人的;不尋常的

It’s startling that someone who gave so much thought to redirecting the powers of government evinced so little interest in understanding how it operates.

(38) strange奇怪的;怪異的;意料之外的

It was strange that they were happy with the successful result of their test.

(39) striking引人注目的;異乎尋常的;顯著的

I thought it was striking that the court talked about something the plaintiffs didn’t want it to talk about.

(40) suggestive使人想起的;引起聯(lián)想的;暗示的

It is suggestive that few of the works illustrated portray either traditional "feminine" experience or masculinized Western myths.

(41) surprising令人吃驚的;令人驚奇的

It is surprising that this has not generated more striking social stress.

(42) typical特有的;獨(dú)特的;顯示特性的

Yes, it’s very typical that not all of the explosive would actually be consumed in the blast.

(43) unexpected想不到的;未預(yù)料到的;意外的

It is unexpected that such a man of action should arouse something maternal in her.

(44) unprecedented前所未有的;空前的;沒有先例的

"It’s really unprecedented that we have locked up several hundred individuals in secret," he says.

(45) unusual不尋常的;不常見的;罕見的

So it’s not unusual that Her Majesty and the duke are distant cousins, sharing a great-great-grandmother in Britain’s Queen Victoria.

7. THE “RELEVANT” GROUP

These adjectives indicate that the event or situation indicated by the that-clause is relevant or irrelevant.  例如:

(1) incidental附帶的;伴隨的;次要的

It is hardly incidental that by the play’s end Gallimard proves Butterfly correct.

(2) irrelevant無(wú)關(guān)緊要的;不重要的

It is irrelevant that the victims were Hispanics; mugging anyone is as wrong.

(3) pertinent有關(guān)的;相關(guān)的

It is pertinent that Lincoln himself was once charged with atheism, or infidelity as it was also called.

(4) relevant相關(guān)的;相應(yīng)的;有重要性的

Is it relevant that they were drinking in a bar together?

8. There are a number of other adjectives which have this pattern.例如:

(1) coincidental巧合的;碰巧的

I think that it is not coincidental that we now have arguably the best bookshops in the world. 

(2) elementary簡(jiǎn)單的;基本的

It is now elementary that the tort of negligence involves three factors: a duty of care, a breach of that duty and consequent damage.

(3) hilarious引人捧腹大笑的;滑稽的;極有趣的

He thought it was hilarious that I was in Sin City and ended up looking for singles on the Internet.

(4) immaterial 不重要的;無(wú)關(guān)緊要的

It is immaterial that the intrusion was in aid of law enforcement.

(5) implicit不言明的;含蓄的

…, I guess it was always implicit that we were going to use force.

(6) ironic具有諷刺意味的;令人啼笑皆非的

It’s ironic that last night’s incident should coincide with the dedication of the plaques.

(7) ironical具有諷刺意味的;冷嘲的;令人啼笑皆非的

It’s extremely ironical that this should happen in the country that’s a major, major oil producer.

(8) sufficient足夠的;充足的

It is sufficient that the brain makes simulation models of the outside world.

(9) symbolic象征的,象征性的

It is probably symbolic that the eatery occupying the prestigious corner of California and Grant is a McDonald’s.

(10) symptomatic作為癥狀的;表明

In the wake of Defferre’s failure, it was symptomatic that Paris was talking about the possible candidature of onetime Premier Antoine Pinay.

The CORPUS OF CONTEMPORAY AMERICAN ENGLISH (1990-2012) (Mark Davies, Brigham Young University) http://www.americancorpus.org/ (語(yǔ)料庫(kù)中至少要有兩個(gè)不同的例句) 可知,還有以下形容詞也適合此句型:

(1) abysmal 極壞的;極糟的

It is abysmal that a gossip writer should use spiky chit-chat from anonymous donors to make money and notoriety for herself.

(2) accidental  偶然的;以外的

So it was quite accidental that I started the club.

(3) accurate 正確的;準(zhǔn)確的

It is accurate that 4.8 percent of jobs in Texas are below the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour.
