復(fù)合句主句與從句分別使用虛擬語(yǔ)氣和陳述語(yǔ)氣

1. 根據(jù)所述情況是否“虛擬”來(lái)決定是否使用虛擬語(yǔ)氣——若表示與事實(shí)相反的假設(shè)或不太可能實(shí)現(xiàn)的假設(shè)或愿望，則用虛擬語(yǔ)氣；若表示實(shí)實(shí)在在的事實(shí)，則用陳述語(yǔ)氣。如：

雖然句中的 if it had not been for your advice 和 what I should have done 均用了虛擬語(yǔ)氣（均表示與過(guò)去事實(shí)相反的假設(shè)），但句中的“我不知道”不能用虛擬語(yǔ)氣，因?yàn)樗�在陳述現(xiàn)在的事實(shí)。又如下面一句也屬類似情況(www.52ysedu.com)：

2. 當(dāng)條件從句含有should時(shí)，有時(shí)可以在主句使用祈使語(yǔ)氣或陳述語(yǔ)氣，以使語(yǔ)氣更客氣、更委婉。如：

If she should be interested, I’ll phone her. 如果她有興趣，我可以給她打電話。

其實(shí)，這樣用的句式更接近陳述語(yǔ)氣，因?yàn)�，如果將條件從句中的“should+動(dòng)詞原形”改為一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)，也完全可以，只是語(yǔ)氣上沒(méi)那么委婉些（即更直接些）。如：

If you write to her, send her my love. 如果你給她寫信，請(qǐng)代我向她致意。

If she is interested, I’ll phone her. 如果她有興趣，我可以給她打電話。

If these biscuits arrive in a damaged condition please inform the factory at once. 餅干運(yùn)到時(shí)如有損壞，請(qǐng)立即通知本廠。

值得注意的是，這樣用的條件從句不能用否定形式，除非它是倒裝的（或改為一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)）。如：

誤：If you should not wish our agent to call, please let us know.

正：Should you not wish our agent to call, please let us know.

正：If you don’t wish our agent to call, please let us know.

注意，如果這類句式的主句也使用虛擬語(yǔ)氣，則不是語(yǔ)氣委婉與否的問(wèn)題，而是真正的虛擬語(yǔ)氣問(wèn)題（即與事實(shí)相反或不太可能成為現(xiàn)實(shí)的）。如：

If he should go away, I should be grieved. 他如離去，我就會(huì)感到悲傷。

If it should rain tomorrow, we should have to put off the match. 假若明天下雨，我們只好推遲這場(chǎng)比賽。
