1. 表示“把……與……比較”，通常用 compare……with……，但在現(xiàn)代英語中，也可用 compare……to……，或者用 compare……and……。如：
If you compare his work with [and] hers, you’ll find hersis much better. 要是把他倆的工作比較一下，就會發(fā)現(xiàn)她的好得多。
Having compared the new dictionary with [to] the old one, he found the new one more helpful. 將新舊詞典比較之后，他發(fā)現(xiàn)新詞典更有用。
Compared with [to] many women, she was indeed veryfortunate. 和許多女人相比，她的確算是很幸運(yùn)的了。
2. 表示“把……比作……”，通常用 compare……to……。如：
Shakespare compared the world to a stage. 莎士比亞把世界比作舞臺。
The poet compares the woman he loves to a rose. 詩人把他所愛的女人比作玫瑰。
3. 表示“比得上”、“能與……比美”，通常用 compare with, 多與情態(tài)動詞 can 連用，且主要用于否定句或疑問句中。如：
My English can’t compare with his. 我的英語不能與他比。
Nothing can compare with wool for warmth. 沒有比羊毛更暖和的東西了。
◆complete v. & adj.
1. 用作動詞，表示“完成”，通常只用作及物動詞，因此要么有賓語，要么用被動語態(tài)。如：
He has completed his work. 他的工作完成了。
When will the railway be completed? 鐵路什么時候峻工?
2. 用作形容詞，表示“完成的”、“結(jié)束的”等，只用作表語。如：
When will the work be complete? 工作什么時候完成?
表示“徹底的”、“全面的”，通常用作定語。如：
He was a complete idiot. 他是個十足的白癡。
表示“完整的”或“全部的”等，可用作表語或定語。如：
This set of tools is not complete. 這套工具不齊全。
He bought a set of Shakespeare’s plays. 他買了一套完整的莎士比亞戲劇集。
◆conclude v.
1. 表示“結(jié)束”，可用作及物或不及物動詞，表示以某種方式結(jié)束通常用介詞 with, by 等。如：
He has concluded his research. 他已完成了他的研究工作。
He concluded his talk with a funny story. 他以一個有趣的故事結(jié)束講話。
He concluded by giving us some advice. 他結(jié)束時給我們提了些建議。
2. 表示“斷定”或“推出”，是及物動詞，但通常只接 that 從句或不定式的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)(且不定式只能是 to be 型)作賓語，通常不接簡單賓語，也不用于進(jìn)行時態(tài)。如：
我們斷定是他錯了。
正：We concluded that he was wrong.
正：We concluded him to be wrong.
我斷定他一定是出事了。
正：I concluded that he must have met with an accident.
誤：I concluded him to have met with an accident.
3. 表示“決定”，其后通常接不定式或 that 從句。如：
We concluded to wait for fair weather. /We concluded that
we would wait for fair weather. 我們決定等待好天氣。
4. 期刊雜志等在連載文章時，表示“待續(xù)”用 to be continued, 表示“下期續(xù)完”用 to be concluded, 表示“全部載完”則通常用 concluded。
