menu 本指餐館用于點菜的“菜單”，但在計算機語言中指用于說明計算機功能任務(wù)的“菜單”。如：
Drop-down menus make the program very easy to use. 下拉式菜單使該程序很容易使用。
The menu bar with its windows is one of the features of the desktop. 具有菜單欄及窗口是桌面的特色之一。
To create a new document, select New from the File menu. 創(chuàng)建新文檔，要選擇文件菜單中的新建項。
18. modem
modem 為計算機專用語，意思是“調(diào)制解調(diào)器”，為計算器系統(tǒng)與其他設(shè)備（例如電話線）的聯(lián)接裝置，可使資料高速傳至另一計算器。如：
It comes with a 56K modem and a speech recognition system. 另配一個56K的調(diào)制解調(diào)器和一個語音識別系統(tǒng)。
That store sells computer hardware, such as PCs, printers, and modems. 那家商店出售計算機硬件，如個人計算機、打印機和調(diào)制解調(diào)器。
I logged on to an information service by using my modem. 我用自己的調(diào)制解調(diào)器登錄進入了一個信息服務(wù)系統(tǒng)。
19. mouse
mouse 本指動物“鼠”“老鼠”，在計算機語言中指“鼠標”。如：
Use the mouse to drag the icon to a new position. 用鼠標拖動圖標至新位置。
Your photos can be viewed with the click of a mouse. 點一下鼠標就可以查看你的照片。
20. netizen
netizen為計算機網(wǎng)絡(luò)專用詞匯，意為“網(wǎng)民”。如：
Another possibility is that exposure to the wider world via the Net makes users less satisfied with their lives. 還有一種可能是，網(wǎng)民通過因特網(wǎng)所了解到的廣闊世界使他們對自己的生活不那么滿意了。
順便說一句，與“網(wǎng)民”相似的還有一個名詞值得注意，那就是“網(wǎng)友”，在詞典上還沒有查到標準的表達，現(xiàn)在人們用得比較多的是net friend或cyber-friend。
21. network
network 本指“網(wǎng)點”“網(wǎng)絡(luò)”“網(wǎng)狀系統(tǒng)”“廣播公司”等，在計算機語言中指“（計算機）網(wǎng)絡(luò)”。如：
All these PCs are linked up to the network. 所有這些個人計算機都連上了網(wǎng)絡(luò)。
It might be prudent to get a virus detector for the network. 給網(wǎng)絡(luò)配一個病毒檢測器算是謹慎的做法。
22. online
(1) 用作形容詞，意為“聯(lián)機的”“在線的”。如：
Online bookstores can undercut retailers by up to 30%. 在線書店有可能搶走30%的零售商。
Not all executives share the view that participation in online discussions is good for business. 并非所有的經(jīng)理們都認為參加在線討論對生意有所幫助。
(2) 用作副詞，意為“聯(lián)機”“在線”，主要用于修飾動詞，表示方式。如：
You can book seats online. 你可以在線預訂座位。
Investors can now trade stocks online. 現(xiàn)在投資者們可以在網(wǎng)上從事股票交易。
