■also, too, all, both, always, usually, never, sure, certainly, possibly 等詞用于補(bǔ)充陳述或答話中單獨(dú)使用時(shí),通常常放在助動(dòng)詞或情態(tài)動(dòng)詞之前。如:
I ought to have helped her, but I never could. 我本該幫助她的,卻從未能這樣做。
“Can you see it?” “Yes, we all can.” “你們能看見它嗎?”“是的,我我們都能看見。”
“Philip is late again.” “Yes, he always is.” “菲利普又遲到了。”“是的,他總是遲到。”
I have never visited Africa and probably never shall. 我從來(lái)沒有去過(guò)非洲,并很可能永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)去。
■但either(也)不同,它要位于句末。如:
“I haven’t paid.” “I haven’t either.” “我還沒有付錢。”“我也沒付呢。”
