11.【河北省衡水中學8模· 短文改錯】I’m glad to receive your letter. Thank you for your caring for the weather or my health.

【參考解析】上面兩句話答案要求把or改為and。這種改法是正確的。但是命題者卻犯了一個錯誤。這里實際上還要把your去掉。《牛津英語用法指南》第三版433.3節上說：

Thank you for / Thanks for 后面可以跟-ing 形式。不能也沒必要用物主代詞。

—Thank you for coming.  謝謝你的光臨。

—Not at all. Thank you for having me. 別這么說。謝謝你的招待。（不能說：Thank you for your coming.）

注意: Thanks/ Thank you for one’s + 名詞；Thanks/ Thank you for + 動名詞

Thanks for your help./ Thanks for helping me.

【參考解析】本題許多老師及同學在not后面是否加to糾結很久，尤其是前面的不定式為肯定，而后面的不定式為否定。其實這句話錯在give up中間的it,其為多余，因為上下文中沒有提及放棄什么。《大學英語語法講座與測試》有個句式相似的例子：It’s just impossible to see that and not feel angry. 看到那個不生氣是不可能的。

【參考解析】本題考查狀語從句。答案為before。該詞在語法填空的考查頻度很高，又由于其詞性復雜，常常是一個難點。其在引導狀語從句時，在主從句都同時表示過去或將來的時候，這個詞有一個很重要的使用特點，我們把握住這個特點，有時候會給我們做題帶來很大的方便，那就，它的主句表達的往往是一個時間段或者是空間的距離。本題 a long way就是一個空間距離，所以解題時我們首先要考慮before。

14.【2017全國二卷·完形填空】As sad as it was, I couldn't help smiling.

【參考譯文】雖然此事令人無比感傷，我還是忍不住笑了笑。

【參考解析】這里的as...as結構其實是一種我們很熟悉的as倒裝結構多在美國英語中的變體。該句意思等同于Sad as it was, I couldn't help smiling.英國英語則很少用這種結構表讓步關系。咱們看一下《英語準確用詞詞典》給的例句：

As nice as it was, I don't want to go there again. (RW)

= Nice as/though it was, I don't want to go there again.

=Though it was nice, I don't want to go there again.雖然那兒很好，但我不愿再到那兒去。

【參考譯文】我女兒凱西練習游泳已頗有時日，一路走來，其樂無窮。

【參考解析】該句很有難度，尤其是as long as的理解。其實其跟固定結構的as long as無關。這真正涉及到的是as ... as 結構的一種特殊用法---表示同一個人或物的不同性質，多具有“并列遞進轉折關系”，意思是“既...又”“但是”等。

She is as kind as honest.她既誠實又友善。

The news was as unexpected as (it was) welcome.消息來得很突然，但很受歡迎。
