有趣的 if not, not用法分析

If not, not. 是一個很簡潔的表達，也是一個很有趣的結(jié)構(gòu)，但許多同學(xué)們并不知道它是意思，更不知道它是由什么結(jié)構(gòu)轉(zhuǎn)化來的。我們先來看下面一個句子：

If the ticket is free, I will go. If not, not.

這個句子是什么意思呢？句中的if not, not 該如何理解呢？其實這是一個省略句，如果將其補充完整，此句便是：

If the ticket is free, I will go. If the ticket is NOT free, I will NOT go. 如果票是免費的，我們就去；如果票不是免費的，我們就不去。

這個句子的特點是：前后兩句的用詞和句式完全相同，只是前面一句為肯定形式，而后面一句為否定，為了簡潔起見，我們便將后面一句當(dāng)中與前面一句相同部分進行省略，只保留否定詞表示件的if和表示否定的not。又如：

If it is good, I’ll buy it. If not, not. 如果好，我就買；如果不好，我就不買。

If you go, I’ll go. If not, not. 如果你去，我就去；如果你不去，我就也不去。

If he loves me, I’ll marry him. If not, not. 如果他愛我，我就嫁給他；如果他不愛我，我就不會嫁給他。

If you come on time, you can go with him. If not, not. 你如果及時趕到，你就能同他一起去；如果你不能及時趕到，你就不能同他一起去。

If you study hard, you’ll succeed. If not, not. 你若努力，你就會成功；你若不努力，你就不會成功。

If you start at once, you’ll catch the train. If not, not. 你若馬上動身，你就會趕上火車；你若不馬上動身，你就趕不上火車了。

請看以下單獨使用的 if not：

I might see you tomorrow. If not, then it’ll be Saturday. 我可能明天去看你。如果不是明天，那就在周六。

I’ll go if you’re going. If not, I’ll stay at home. 你去我就去。不然的話，我就呆在家里。

另外，請聯(lián)系相關(guān)表達 if so（如果是那樣的話）：

He may be busy. If so, I’ll call later. If not, can I see him now? 他可能忙，如是這樣，我以后再來拜訪。他如不忙，我現(xiàn)在可以見他嗎?

Will you be staying another night? If so, we can give you a better room. If not, could you be out of your room by 12:00? 您要再呆一晚上嗎? 如果是這樣，我們可以給您提供條件再好一點兒的房間。如果不是，您能在12點離開這房間嗎?
