不定冠詞的三種特殊位置

根據(jù)英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)法的一般習(xí)慣，不定冠詞總是置于被修飾名詞前，若名詞前有其他修飾語(yǔ)，則不定冠詞通常要置于該修飾語(yǔ)前。但是，在某些特殊情況下，不定冠詞的位置比較特殊，需特別注意。

一、與such和what連用時(shí)

不定冠詞與such, what連用時(shí)，習(xí)慣上是置于它們之后，而不是之前。

1. such a

She is such a good friend. 她是那么好的朋友。

Such a boat is fit only for a calm sea. 這種船只適合在風(fēng)平浪靜的海上航行。

2. what a

What a great idea! 多么了不起的主意！

What a beautiful diamond ring! 多漂亮的鉆石戒指！

She told him what a silly boy he was. 她告訴他是個(gè)多么蠢的孩子。

二、與rather和quite連用時(shí)

當(dāng)一個(gè)單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞前有rather或quite修飾時(shí)，不定冠詞習(xí)慣上要放在這些詞之后。如：

1. rather a

It was rather a pity. 這真是件憾事。

It was rather a success. 這件事相當(dāng)成功。

2. quite a

That’s quite a problem. 那很成問(wèn)題。

Your daughter is quite a beauty. 你的女兒真是個(gè)大美人。

但是，當(dāng)這類結(jié)構(gòu)中的名詞還帶有形容詞修飾語(yǔ)時(shí)，則不定冠詞既可放在這些詞語(yǔ)之前，也可放在這些詞語(yǔ)之后。

He was rather a [a rather] naughty student. 他是一個(gè)相當(dāng)淘氣的學(xué)生。

由于名詞student前有形容詞naughty的修飾，所以既可說(shuō)rather a naughty student，也可說(shuō)a rather naughty student。

三、與half連用時(shí)

當(dāng)不定冠詞與half連用時(shí)，在通常情況下，我們總是說(shuō)half a。如：

I need half a kilo. 我需要半公斤。

He arrived half an hour ago. 他是半小時(shí)前到達(dá)的。

在美國(guó)英語(yǔ)中，也可說(shuō)成a half，如說(shuō)a half kilo, a half hour等。但是，在某些特殊表達(dá)，我們必須要說(shuō)a half，如要表示“幾個(gè)半……”時(shí)，我們總是說(shuō)…and a half。如：

I waited for an hour and a half [one and a half hours]. 我等了一個(gè)半鐘頭。
