考點5  考查球類運動和樂器名詞前冠詞的使用

根據英語語法和習慣，在表示球類運動的名詞前一般不用冠詞，而在表示樂器演奏的名詞前則習慣上要用定冠詞。如：

Let’s go and play basketball. 我們去打籃球吧。

Football is played all over the world. 全世界都有人踢足球。

He plays the piano very well. 他的鋼琴彈得很好。

I’d like to learn the guitar. 我想學習彈吉它。

但是如果不是表示球類運動，而只是表示進行球類運動所用的球，則其前可用冠詞。如：

We need a new basketball. 我們需要一個新的籃球。

另外，如果不是表示樂器的演奏，而只是表示具體的某種樂器，則不一定用定冠詞。如：

He bought a new piano for his wife. 他為他的妻子買了一臺新的鋼琴。

英語中表示一日三餐的名詞是breakfast（早餐）、lunch（午餐）、supper（晚餐），另外還有表示“正餐”的dinner，在通常情況下，它們前面不用任何冠詞。如：

Do say you’ll stay for supper! 務必吃完晚飯再走!

We got off immediately after breakfast. 我們吃完早餐就動身了。

I nearly always go home for lunch. 我差不多總是回家吃午飯。

但是，如需特指，其前則要用定冠詞。如：

Thank you for the breakfast. 謝謝你的這頓早餐。

I don’t like the supper he cooked. 我不喜歡他做的晚飯。

另外，若受形容詞修飾且非特指，可用不定冠詞。如：

We had a very late lunch. 我們很晚才吃午飯。

After a quick breakfast, he hurried to the station. 匆匆忙忙吃完早餐，他就趕到車站去了。
