連系動(dòng)詞look, sound, smell, taste 和feel的用法注意

它們都屬于表示知覺的連系動(dòng)詞，意思分別是“看起來(lái)”、“聽起來(lái)”、“聞起來(lái)”、“嘗起來(lái)”、“摸起來(lái)”。使用時(shí)注意以下幾點(diǎn)：

(1) 通常以物作主語(yǔ)，表示人的知覺狀態(tài)或感覺能力，雖有被動(dòng)詞味，但不用被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)。如：

誤：The stone is felt smooth. 這種石頭摸上去很光滑。

正：The stone feels smooth. 

誤：The soup is tasted delicious. 這湯味道不錯(cuò)。

正：The soup tastes delicious.

(2) 其后均可接like短語(yǔ)。如：

That photograph doesn’t look like her at all. 那張照片看起來(lái)一點(diǎn)都不像她。

This tastes like an orange. 這東西吃起來(lái)像桔子。

When I realized what stupid mistake I had made, I felt like a fool. 當(dāng)我發(fā)現(xiàn)我犯了個(gè)愚蠢的錯(cuò)誤是，我覺得仿佛是個(gè)傻子。

(3) 除look外，均不能接 to be，也均不用于進(jìn)行時(shí)態(tài)(即使是look也不多見)。如：

She looks (to be) the right person for this job. 她似乎是做這項(xiàng)工作的合適人選。

You look / are looking very fetching in that hat with the purple dress. 你戴上那頂帽子配上這紫色衣服顯得非常動(dòng)人。

(4) taste和smell常與of連用，意為“有┅的味道”。如：

The room smelt of cigarettes. 房間里有煙味。

This soup tastes of chicken. 這湯有雞的味道。

【注】feel 表示“感覺”可用于進(jìn)行時(shí)。如：

How are you feeling today? 你今天感覺如何?

I’m feeling terrible. 我感到難受極了。

feel還可表示“使人感覺起來(lái)…”。如：

It feels cold here. 這兒讓人覺得冷。

It feels as if a great weight had been lifted from us. 我們?nèi)玑屩刎?fù)。
