“the+形容詞”表單數還是復數

有的形容詞(包括某些由分詞轉化來的形容詞)可在其前加上定冠詞表示一類人或事物。如：

這類用法往往具有復數意義。如：

The rich are not always happier than the poor. 富人并不總是比窮人過得開心。

但若表示抽象意義，則被視為單數。如：

The beautiful is not always the same as the good. 美的東西不一定都是好的東西。
