would rather的意義和應用

1. would rather表示一種心理愿望，意思為：寧愿。表示主語本人的愿望時，接動詞原形；表示對他人的愿望、想法時，現在和將來的情況用過去時表示；過去的情況用過去完成時表示。如：

I’d rather do it by myself. 我寧愿獨自一人去做那件事。

I’d rather you came tomorrow. 我倒想要你明天來。

I’d rather you had finished it yesterday. 我倒想你昨天就做完了

2. would rather的否定形式為在rather后加not，但變疑問句時，往往只將would提到句首。如：

3. would rather常與than連用，would rather…than…，意思是：寧愿…而不…。有時，也可寫成：than…，would rather…的形式，意義不變。如：
