關閉窗口 有關do的若干用法注意
用法較多，較復雜，在具體使用中以下幾點需注意：
1. 用來強調句中的謂語動詞（要重讀），以加強語氣，此時謂語的時態由 do 來體現，其后的謂語動詞一律用原形。如：
She does seem to be trying. 看來她的確正在努力做。
He did come but soon went back. 他是來了，但很快就回去了。
She thinks I don’t love her, but I do love her. 她認為我不愛她, 可是我真的愛她。
如果這類句子后接反意疑問句，疑問部分的助動詞與前面的do采用相同的形式。如：
Michael did say he would be here at nine, didn’t he? 邁克爾確實說他將于9點到這里，不是嗎?
這類用法若用于祈使句，可使語氣更客氣友好或更有說服力。如：
Do try this fish. 請嘗嘗這魚。
Do come to the party tonight. 請今晚一定來參加晚會。
以上用 do 表示強調的用法只見于肯定句，不見于否定句或疑問句。如：
誤：You don’t do look nice today.
誤：Don’t do be careless.
2. 用于“do+動名詞”：表示一項需要一段時間的活動或經常性的活動（如日常生活，業余愛好等）。注意：在這類用法中，在 do與動名詞之間往往有一個限定詞（如the, some, my, much, a lot of 等）。如：
She’s gone out to do some shopping. 她出去買東西了。
Mother does her washing on Sunday. 母親星期天洗衣服。
He did a lot of running when he was young. 他年輕時經常跑步。
I stayed at home last night and did some reading. 昨晚我待在家里讀了點書。
3. 用于 do with, 主要用法有：
(1) 表示需要或希望得到某物，通常與 could 連用，有時與 can, will 等連用。如：
I could do with a cup of tea. 我想來一杯茶。
You look as if you could do with a good night’s sleep. 你看來似乎需要好好睡上一夜。
若用于否定式，可表示“忍受”。如：
I can’t do with loud music. 我受不了喧鬧的音樂。
(2) 用來詢問如何處理某事物，此時通常要與 what 連用。如：
Tell me what to do with it. 告訴我該拿它怎么辦。
What shall I do with your mail? 我應該怎么處理您的信件?
What did you do with the money that was left? 你對剩下的錢是怎么處理的?
比較 do with 與 do to：
What did you do with my book? 你把我的書弄到哪里去了?
What did you do to my book? 你把我書怎樣了?（弄壞了還是丟掉了?）
與 what 連用的 do with有時還可以表示“利用”或“對付”。如：
I don’t know what to do with this strange object. 我不知道這怪東西有什么用。
What are you going to do with these hooligans? 你打算怎樣處置這些小流氓?
(3) 表示打發時間或安排時間，其后通常接反身代詞。如：
Tell me what you did with yourselves on Sunday. 告訴我你們星期天是怎樣過的。
后接反身代詞，有時表示“控制”。如：
The children didn’t know what to do with themselves for excitement. 孩子們興奮得無法控制自己。
(4) 表示將就或湊合，意為“對付過去”“湊合著”等。如：
Can you do with a five-yuan note? 給你5塊錢夠了嗎?
If we can’t afford meat we shall have to do with fish. 要是我們買不起肉，就只得吃魚了。
4. 用于 do without，其意為“不要……而湊合過”“免去……也可以”。如：
I can do without a car. 我沒有汽車也行。
No one can do without sleep for very long. 誰也不能長時間不睡覺。
若語義明確，有時可省略without后的賓語，將without用作副詞。如：
If there isn’t one, I shall have to do without (it). 如果沒有，我只好不用。
If there isn’t any milk we’ll have to do without (it). 如果沒有牛奶，我們只好將就了。
