形容詞bad用法歸納

 

1. 除表示壞的之外,還有不少引申用法,如表示有害的”“糟糕的”“嚴(yán)重的”“腐爛的等。如:

Smoking is bad for your health. 抽煙有害健康。

I had a bad cold. That’s why I didn’t come. 我重感冒了,因此我沒來。

I’m afraid he’s made a bad mistake. 我恐怕他犯了一個嚴(yán)重的錯誤。

He had some bad fish. As a result, he felt ill. 他吃了些變質(zhì)的魚,結(jié)果感到不舒服。

2. 比較等級變化不規(guī)則,分別為worseworst。如

Today’s weather is worse than yesterday’s. 今天的天氣比昨天差。

She is the worst singer I know. 她是我知道的最差的歌手。

3. feel bad (about)為慣用表達(dá),其意不是感覺很壞,而是(對……)感到難過或內(nèi)疚。如:

He felt bad about leaving without saying goodbye. 他對自己不辭而別感到內(nèi)疚。

4. the bad可用作名詞,指壞人,表復(fù)數(shù)意義。如:

We can’t ever be sure that the bad will be punished. 我們永遠(yuǎn)不能肯定壞人一定會受到懲罰。

5. 表示變壞”“變質(zhì),要說go bad,不用come bad。如:

The fish has gone bad. 這條魚已變質(zhì)了。

You know, if the goods are outdated, they will also go bad. 你知道,如果貨物過期,也會變質(zhì)。

go from bad to worse為習(xí)語,意為越來越壞”“每況愈下。如:

The service in this hotel goes from bad to worse. 這個旅店的服務(wù)每況愈下。

We were hoping for an improvement but things have gone from bad to worse. 我們但愿有所改善,然而事情卻每況愈下。

6. make matters [things] worse為英語慣用表達(dá),其意為更糟的是,通常用作獨(dú)立成分。如:

To make things worse, it started to snow when evening came. 更糟糕的是,夜幕降臨時,天開始下起雪來了。

有時也可直接用于句中,表示將困難情況弄得更糟。如:

Her attempts to calm them down only made matters worse. 她設(shè)法使他們平靜下來,不想?yún)s適得其反。
