兩個簡單句的主語可由連詞and (和)，but (但是)，both…and (兩者都)，either... or (或者…或者…)，neither…nor (既不…也不…) 及not only…but also (不僅…而且) 等連接組成一個簡單句，但要注意主語和謂語動詞的一致性：

The boss is flying to Parts. His secretary is flying to Paris. 老板正飛往巴黎。他的秘書正飛往巴黎。

The boss and his secretary are flying to Paris. 老板和他的秘書正飛往巴黎。

Both the boss and His secretary are flying to Paris老板和他的秘書都正飛往巴黎。

The boss is flying to Rome. His secretary is not flying to Rome. 老板正飛往羅馬。他的秘書沒有飛往羅馬。
