act on [upon] 照……行事;對……起作用;按照……行動  

The medicine acted on his fever at once. 這藥立刻使他退了燒。  

The police are acting on information received. 警察正根據得到的情報采取行動。  

agree on [upon] 同意;達成協議  

He agreed on helping us. 他同意幫助我們。  

Both sides agreed on these terms. 雙方都同意這些條件。  

Can we agree on a price (a date)? 我們能不能商定一個價格(日期)?  

blame … on 把……歸咎于(某人)  

He blamed his failure on his teacher. 他把他的失敗歸咎于老師。  

They blamed the accident on me. 他們把事故歸咎于我。  

call on [upon] 拜訪,看望  

I called on Mr Green. 我拜訪了格林先生。  

I shall call on him tomorrow. 我明天要去看望他。
