so far只能與現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)連用嗎
so far 只能與現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)連用嗎？不一定！到底連用什么時(shí)態(tài)，要看它表示什么意思。
一、表示“迄今”“到目前為止”
1. 連用現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)
當(dāng)so far修飾謂語動(dòng)詞且表示一直持續(xù)到現(xiàn)在時(shí)，謂語動(dòng)詞通常要用現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)。如：
So far there has been no bad news. 到現(xiàn)在為止還沒有什么壞消息。
So far 50 people have died in the fighting. 到現(xiàn)在為止，已有50人在戰(zhàn)斗中喪生。
So far the work has been easy but things may change. 到目前為止，這工作很容易，但情況可能有變化。
有時(shí)so far并非修飾謂語動(dòng)詞，而是修飾句中的非謂語動(dòng)詞，雖然此時(shí)的謂語不一定要使用現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)，但其中的非謂語動(dòng)詞通常可視為由一個(gè)完成時(shí)態(tài)簡化而來。如：
It is one of the funniest things ______ on the Internet so far this year.
A. finding B. being found C. to find D. found
答案為D。句中的非謂語動(dòng)詞found可視為which have found之省略。
2. 連用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)
當(dāng)連用so far的謂語動(dòng)詞并不表示一個(gè)持續(xù)的狀態(tài)，而只是表示現(xiàn)在一時(shí)的狀態(tài)時(shí)，謂語動(dòng)詞通常不用現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)，而用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)。如：
The closure of the
有時(shí)也連用現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時(shí)。如：
We’re (lying) ninetieth in the competition so far. 到目前為止，我們?cè)诒荣愔信琶?/FONT>90。
3. 根據(jù)語境需要選用適合的時(shí)態(tài)
有時(shí)so far并非修飾謂語動(dòng)詞，而是間接地說明句中的某個(gè)名詞，此時(shí)的句子謂語需要具體語境來使用時(shí)態(tài)。如：
She gave us a brief résumé of the project so far. 她給了我們一份該項(xiàng)目迄今為止的歷程簡介。（句中的so far間接地修飾名詞the project）
The new prime minister is facing his toughest political test so far. 新首相正面臨迄今止最為嚴(yán)峻的政治考驗(yàn)。（句中的so far間接地修飾名詞his toughest political test）
The hotel manager thanked the staff for their efforts so far and told them to keep up the good work. 飯店經(jīng)理感謝員工們一直以來的努力，并要求他們繼續(xù)好好地干下去。（句中的so far間接地修飾名詞their efforts）
Production so far this year is on target. 今年到目前為止生產(chǎn)已達(dá)到指標(biāo)。（句中的so far間接地修飾名詞production）
二、表示“（距離）如此之遠(yuǎn)”“（程度）如此之深”
此時(shí)句子謂語需要根據(jù)具體語境來確定時(shí)態(tài)。如：
My feet are very sore from walking so far. 走了這么遠(yuǎn)的路，我的腳非常痛。
My mother lives so far away that we hardly ever see her. 我母親住得那么遠(yuǎn)，我們很少見到她。
Was it wise to push things so far? 把事情弄到這種地步明智嗎?
We had fallen so far behind that it seemed pointless continuing. 我們已經(jīng)落在后面很遠(yuǎn)，繼續(xù)下去似乎沒有什么意義。
三、表示“僅到一定程度”“僅在有限的范圍內(nèi)”：
此時(shí)句子謂語也需要根據(jù)具體語境來確定時(shí)態(tài)。如：
I can only help him so far. 我只能幫他到這種程度。
I trust you only so far (and no further). 我對(duì)你的信任只到這個(gè)程度。
