arrive v.

What time does the train arrive?

We arrived here last night.

2. 要表示“到達某地”,通常要用介詞 at(一般用于較小的地方) in(一般用于較大的地方)。如:

We arrived at the station five minutes late.

They will arrive in Paris next Monday.

as prep, conj. & pron.

He treats me as a child.

As your doctor, I advise you to eat less.

As time passed, things seemed to get worse.

With the development of modern agriculture and industry,

more and more waste is produced.

Much as I like you, I couldn’t live with you.

Try as he would [might],he couldn’t open the door.

Boy as he was, he behaved like a girl.

(1) 用在 such, same, as 等之后,引導限制性定語從句。如:

I live in the same place as Tom does.

Such people as knew him admired him.

He smokes as expensive a cigarette as he can afford.

He was absent, as is often the case.

As was expected, he succeeded at last.

ask v.

Ask him his name.

She asked me what I wanted.

He came to ask me a favour.

正:He came to ask a favour of me.

He asked me a question.

正:He asked a question of me.

She is always asking for money.

He asked 100 yuan for a box.

He asked (for) the teacher’s advice.

=He asked the teacher for his advice.

Ask (him) about the ring — he may have found it.
