根據 I have something to type. I have a letter to write. He has some clothes to wash. 等相關句式類推，許多同學毫不猶豫地選擇了A答案，但是錯了，最佳答案應是C。確實，在“have+賓語+不定式”結構中，用作定語的不定式通常用主動式表示被動含義，如 I have a letter to write 之類的，按理說其中的 a letter 與其后的不定式 to write 具有被動關系，即“信”應該是“被寫”，但這里卻習慣上用主動式表示這個被動意義。不過同學們還要注意一點，就是這類句型的主語與其后的不定式具有主動關系，如 I have a letter to write. 中的 to write 就是由該句主語 I 來完成的。而上面一題的情形則稍有不同，即其中的 to type 這一動作不是由句子主語 you (在此指 Professor Smith)來完成的，而是由說話者“我”來完成的，句意為“史密斯教授，你有什么文件要我打字嗎？”請再看一例(www.52ysedu.com)：
