關閉窗口 tear還是tears
許多人認為，“眼淚”就是“淚水”，而“淚水”是一種“水”，所以它應該是不可數的。但是錯了！其實，tear的準確意思不是“淚水”，而是“一滴眼淚”，英語詞典對此的解釋是a drop of liquid that comes from your eye when you cry，所以英語中的tear是一個典型的可數名詞，而且由于人們掉眼淚通常不止一滴，所以它通常以復數形式出現。如：
She couldn’t keep back her tears. 她忍不住哭了。
Tears ran down her face. 眼淚順著她的臉流了下來。
The sight affected her to tears. 此情此景使她感動得流淚。
Hearing the news, she broke into tears. 聽到這個消息，她就哭了起來。
當然，在某些特殊情況下，連用不定冠詞甚至數詞也是可能的。如：
A tear rolled down his cheek. 一滴淚珠沿著他的面頰流下來。
Her head sank down and two great tears fell on his hand. 她低下頭，兩滴大淚珠落到了他手上。
另外，有時還可與a few, some, many等連用。如：
How many tears have I cried over you? 我為你流了多少眼淚呀!
I must admit I shed a few tears when the school closed. 我必須承認，當學校關閉的時候，我掉過幾滴淚。
