4. 用于提出想法

would有時(shí)用于提出想法，通常與like, love, hate, prefer, be glad, be happy等連用。如：

I would like to make a suggestion. 我想提一個(gè)建議。

I’d love to have a room of my own. 我想有一個(gè)自己的房間。

I’d hate to disturb him if he’s busy. 如果他忙，我就不想打擾他了。

I’d prefer to go by bike. 我想騎自行車(chē)去。

若用于第一人稱(chēng)有時(shí)也可將would換成should。如：

I should be glad to talk to him. 我會(huì)高興和他談?wù)劇?SPAN lang=EN-US>

I should like to give him a chance. 我愿意給他一個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)。

注意，這樣用的would習(xí)慣上不能換成will。

5. 表示習(xí)慣或傾向

will和would均可用于表示習(xí)慣或傾向——既可指某人特有的習(xí)慣，也可指事物的自然傾向。其中will表示現(xiàn)在的習(xí)慣，would表示過(guò)去的習(xí)慣。如：

Water will boil at 100C. 水到攝氏100就會(huì)沸騰。

He will always complain if he gets the opportunity. 他一有機(jī)會(huì)總要抱怨。

When we were students we would often stay up all night. 我們當(dāng)學(xué)生時(shí)，經(jīng)常通宵不睡。

I planted a vine last year, but it wouldn’t grow because it didn’t get enough sun. 去年我種了一棵葡萄，但它因陽(yáng)光不足沒(méi)有長(zhǎng)大。

有時(shí)，也用于談?wù)撃橙肆钊瞬荒蜔┑牧?xí)慣或傾向。如：

That’s just like him—he would lose his keys! 他就是這樣，老丟鑰匙!

Harriet will keep leaving her things all over the floor. 哈麗特總是把她的東西扔得滿地都是。

6. 表示推測(cè)

will和would都可用于表示推測(cè)——will用于談?wù)摤F(xiàn)在；would用于談?wù)撨^(guò)去，但也可用于談?wù)摤F(xiàn)在，只是語(yǔ)氣比較委婉、比較不確定。如：

He will be waiting downstairs now. 他現(xiàn)在應(yīng)該在樓下等吧!

You’ll be Dr. Livingston, I presume? 我猜您就是李溫斯頓博士吧?

You wouldn’t tell anyone, would you? 你不會(huì)告訴別人的，對(duì)吧?

That would be the watch you are looking for. 那大概是你在尋找的手表吧。

有時(shí)可后接完成式，表示對(duì)過(guò)去可能已經(jīng)發(fā)生的情況進(jìn)行推測(cè)。如：

You will have heard the news, I think? 我想，你已經(jīng)聽(tīng)到那個(gè)新聞了吧?

I thought you would have finished it by now. 我想你現(xiàn)在可能已經(jīng)做完了吧。
