接不定式和動(dòng)名詞含義不同的動(dòng)詞

第一條

remember(記得)，forget(忘記)，regret(后悔)后接不定式指該不定式所表示的動(dòng)作還未發(fā)生，后接動(dòng)名詞(有時(shí)可用完成式)，則指該動(dòng)名詞所表示的動(dòng)作已經(jīng)發(fā)生。如：

Remember to meet me tonight. 記得晚上和我會(huì)面。

Remember to buy some stamps, won’t you? 記著買(mǎi)些郵票好嗎?

I remember telling you about her. 記得曾跟你談過(guò)她的事。

I remember seeing him at his office. 我記得在他的辦公室看過(guò)他。

I shall never forget seeing her for the first time. 我永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)忘記第一次和她見(jiàn)面的情景。

I forgot to ask him about it. 我忘了問(wèn)他這事。

We’ve always regretted selling the farm. 賣(mài)掉這座農(nóng)場(chǎng)我們一直后悔。

You’ll regret having said these words. 說(shuō)了這些話你會(huì)感到遺憾的。

I regret to say that your grandfather has died. 我遺憾地說(shuō)你祖父過(guò)世了。

I regret to tell you that your wife is i11. 我遺憾地通知你你妻子生病了。

We regret to inform you that your application hasn’t been successful. 我們遺憾地通知你你的申請(qǐng)不成功。

比較：

Remember to post the letter. 記住把這封信寄了。(“寄信”未發(fā)生)

I remember posting the letter. 我記得寄了那封信。(“寄信”已發(fā)生)

He forgot to pay me the money. 他忘記要給我付錢(qián)了。(“付錢(qián)”未發(fā)生)

He forgot paying me the money. 他忘記曾給我付過(guò)錢(qián)。(“付錢(qián)”發(fā)生了)

第二條

try 后接不定式表示設(shè)法做某事，接動(dòng)名詞表示做某事試試(看有什么效果)。如：

They also try to fool other people. 他們也企圖欺騙別人。

We anticipated where they would try to cross. 我們預(yù)料到他們將在哪里渡河。

I shall try to insure that your stay is a pleasant one. 我將設(shè)法確保你待得很愉快。

She must be more reasonable, but by the same token you must try to understand her point of view. 她應(yīng)當(dāng)更講道理，但同樣地你也應(yīng)設(shè)法了解她的觀點(diǎn)。

Try knocking at the back door if nobody hears you at the front door. 前門(mén)如沒(méi)有人答應(yīng)，就敲后門(mén)試試看。

第三條

mean 后接不定式表示打算(想要)做某事，接動(dòng)名詞表示意味著(要)做某事。如：

What do you mean to do with it? 你打算用它怎么樣?

He did not mean to hurt you. 他不是有意要傷害你。

Do forgive me I didn’t mean to be rude. 務(wù)請(qǐng)?jiān)�諒，我無(wú)心對(duì)你粗魯無(wú)禮。

I mean to go there when the war is over. 我打算等戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)結(jié)束后到那里去。

I don’t mean to praise myself；I have my faults. 我無(wú)意贊揚(yáng)我自己，我有我的缺點(diǎn)。

This illness will mean going to hospital. 得了這種病就意味著要住院。

I won’t wait if it means delaying more than a week. 如果這意味耽誤一個(gè)多禮拜我就不等。

To raise wages means increasing purchasing power. 提高工資意味著增加購(gòu)買(mǎi)力。
