英語的狀語主要有三種，一種是修飾性狀語，即修飾謂語；二是評(píng)注性狀語，即用于發(fā)表評(píng)論或表明看法；三是連接性狀語，它在句子中既不起修飾作用，也不表明態(tài)度或看法，而是用于句子間起承接作用。如：

二、評(píng)注性狀語的種類

1. 用來解釋說話方式。如：

Generally speaking, men can run faster than women. 一般說來，男人比女人跑得快一些。

Frankly, I look upon it as a promising experiment. 坦白地講，我把它看作一次很有希望的試驗(yàn)。

2. 用來解釋說話者對(duì)自己所述事情的可能性和真實(shí)性所持的態(tài)度。如：

Perhaps it will, perhaps it won’t. 也許會(huì)，也許不會(huì)。

You no doubt know what’s happened. 你想必已經(jīng)知道發(fā)生了什么事情。

Certainly they must know the results of such speeches. 肯定他們知道這樣發(fā)言的后果。

3. 用來表示說話者對(duì)自己所敘述或所描寫的事情所持的態(tài)度。這些狀語常用于表現(xiàn)說話者對(duì)所述事情是好還是壞的看法和評(píng)判。如：

Luckily, the police came in time. 幸虧警察及時(shí)趕到。

The syllabuses of military academies were understandably dominated by the study of conventional war. 可以理解的是，軍事學(xué)院的課程大綱把學(xué)習(xí)常規(guī)戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)擺在主導(dǎo)地位。

4. 用來表示或強(qiáng)調(diào)說話者對(duì)自己敘述的動(dòng)作的實(shí)施者所持的態(tài)度。說話者用這些狀語把自己對(duì)這種人的行為的看法表示出來。如：

Foolishly, I didn’t write the phone number down. 我真蠢，沒有把電話號(hào)碼記下來。

Not only did he speak more correctly, but he spoke more easily. 不僅他講得更正確，也講得更不費(fèi)勁了。
