關(guān)閉窗口 副詞 indeed 用法詳解
1. 表示強(qiáng)調(diào)，注意以下3種用法：
(1) 用于陳述句中強(qiáng)調(diào)所陳述的內(nèi)容，此時(shí)的indeed可置于句首、句中、句末等，其意為“的確”“確實(shí)”“真的”等。如：
①用于句首
Indeed, his caution is legendary. 確實(shí)，他的謹(jǐn)慎是盡人皆知的。
Indeed, it could be the worst environmental disaster that Western Europe has known this century. 這確實(shí)可能是本世紀(jì)西歐所經(jīng)歷的最嚴(yán)重的環(huán)境災(zāi)難。
②用于句中。尤其用于動詞be和助動詞之后。如：
That is indeed a remarkable thing! 那真是了不起的事情!
Let us assume for a moment that we could indeed fire her. Should we? 我們暫時(shí)假設(shè)我們真的能開除她，我們是不是該那樣做呢?
③用于句末
This is bad news indeed. 這確實(shí)是壞消息。
We live in strange times indeed. 我們確實(shí)生活在奇怪的年代中。
④用于所強(qiáng)調(diào)的詞語之后
A friend in need is a friend indeed. 患難見真情。
Of course, these occasions are rare indeed. 當(dāng)然，這樣的場合相當(dāng)少見。
(2) 用于“very+形容詞或副詞”結(jié)構(gòu)之后表示強(qiáng)調(diào)，該用法尤其見于英國英語中，其意為“真的”“的確”“實(shí)在是”。如：
That’s very good indeed. 這真是太好了。
I enjoyed it very much indeed. 我實(shí)在非常喜歡它。
He was driving very fast indeed. 他把車開得快極了。
(3) 用于肯定答復(fù)中以加強(qiáng)肯定答復(fù)的語氣。如：
A：It’s cold. 天很冷。
B：It is indeed. 的確很冷。
A：Do you agree? 你同意了?
B：Yes indeed! 當(dāng)然同意了!
2. 表示驚訝或生氣，如表示感興趣、驚訝、生氣等，其意為“哦”“真的”。如：
That’s a fine excuse indeed. 那確實(shí)是個(gè)好借口。
A：I will earn a million dollars next year. 我明年要掙100萬英鎊。
B：Indeed? 真的嗎?
A：He said he was too busy to see you. 他說他太忙，沒時(shí)間見你。
B：Did he, indeed? 他這么說，真的嗎?
3. 表示未知，通常與疑問詞連用，用于重復(fù)前面提過的問題，表示不知道答案，并且認(rèn)為不會有令人滿意的答案。如：
A：Why did he do it? 你為什么那樣做?
B：Why indeed? 是呀，為什么呢?
A：Now where are the real villains? 真的壞人在哪里呢?
B：Where indeed? 是呀，究竟在哪里呢?
A：And what do we do here? 我們在這兒干什么呢?
B：What, indeed? 是呀，究竟做什么呢?
A：When will we get a pay rise? 我們什么時(shí)候領(lǐng)工資?
B：When indeed? 是呀，什么時(shí)候呢?
4. 用于補(bǔ)充說明以進(jìn)一步強(qiáng)調(diào)前面說過的內(nèi)容，意為“甚至”“其實(shí)”“事實(shí)上”。如：
I didn’t mind at all. Indeed, I was pleased. 我一點(diǎn)也不介意，事實(shí)上我非常高興。
The service will benefit students, and, indeed, all young people. 該項(xiàng)服務(wù)將給學(xué)生帶來好處，甚至對所有年輕人都是如此。
5. 用于強(qiáng)調(diào)所述情況的真實(shí)性，意為“真的”“確實(shí)是”。如：
It was indeed the largest elephant in the world. 它確實(shí)是世界上最大的象。
The blood tests prove that Vince is indeed the father. 驗(yàn)血證明文斯的確是父親。
Later, he admitted that the payments had indeed been made. 后來，他承認(rèn)款確實(shí)已經(jīng)付過了。
6. 一點(diǎn)說明：在英國英語中，用于“very+形容詞或副詞”之后加強(qiáng)語氣時(shí)，其中修飾形容詞或副詞的very原則上不能沒有。如：
誤：Thank you indeed.（應(yīng)在indeed前加上very much）
誤：She spoke clearly indeed.（應(yīng)在clearly前加上very）
誤：I was pleased indeed to get your letter.（應(yīng)在pleased前加上very）
