接不定式與動名詞意義相同的動詞

這類動詞主要有like(喜歡)，love(喜歡)，hate(討厭)，prefer(寧愿)，begin(開始)，start(開始)，continue(繼續)，can’t bear(忍受不了)，bother(麻煩)，intend(想要)，attempt(試圖)，cease(停止)等。如：

It has started to rain [raining]. 開始下雨了。

The band began to play [playing]. 樂隊開始演奏。

He intends to buy [buying] a house. 他打算買一所房子。

Don’t bother to lock [locking] the door. 別費事鎖門了。

They continued to meet [meeting] daily. 他們繼續每天都見面。

The buses have ceased to run [running]. 公共汽車已經停止行駛。

I like being [to be] with her. 我喜歡與她在一起。

He can’t bear travelling [to travel] by sea. 他坐不了海船。

Some people hate working [to work] in the early morning. 有些人不愛在清晨工作。

注：當 like, love, hate, prefer與 would, should 連用時，其后只能接不定式。如：

I’d like to use your phone. 我想借用一下你的電話。

I’d hate to spend Christmas alone. 我不喜歡一個人過圣誕 節。

另外，當 begin, start 本身為進行時態或后接 know, realize, understand 等靜態動詞時，其后的動詞只能用不定式。如：

The river was beginning to run dry. 這條河開始干涸。

He started to realize his shortcomings. 他開始明白自己的缺點。
