名詞 onion 可數(shù)嗎

■若當(dāng)作一種植物看待，為可數(shù)名詞，指“一根洋蔥”“一個洋蔥頭”等。如：

The onions are beginning to sprout up. 洋蔥正在抽芽。

There were stings of onions hanging on the wall. 墻上掛著一串一串的洋蔥。

■若指作為菜吃的“洋蔥”“洋蔥頭”，有時(shí)可數(shù)，有時(shí)不可數(shù)。如：

(1) 可數(shù)用法：

Chop an onion finely. 把洋蔥切細(xì)。

Onions have a strong odor. 洋蔥氣味刺鼻。

I like liver and onions for dinner. 晚餐我喜歡吃肝和洋蔥。

Shall I use oil or butter for frying the onions? 我用普通油還是黃油來炒洋蔥呢?

(2) 不可數(shù)用法：

The soup tastes of onion. 這湯有洋蔥味。
