place后接定語（從句）的特殊性

■place 表示“地方”時，后接不及物動詞的不定式作定語時，可以不用介詞。如：

He has no place to live (in). 他沒有地方住。

There is no place to go (to). 沒有地方去。

■由于以上原因，后接定語從句時，有時也可將關系副詞 where改為 that 或省略，或將其后有關介詞省略。如：

This is the place (where) we met yesterday. 這就是我們昨天碰頭的地方。

She talked to us about all the places she had been (to). 她給我們談起了她所去過的所有地方。

■但若不是 place 而是其它名詞，則不能省略其后必用的介詞。

誤：He has no room to live. (應在 live 后加 in)

誤：There is no room to sleep. (應在 sleep 后加 in)

誤：This is the room I lived 10 years ago. (應在 lived 后加 in或在room 后加 where )
