考點(diǎn)3  whoever sb is 的用法

whoever sb is 的字面意思是“無論某人是誰”。如：

Everybody who goes into this region, whoever they are, is at risk of being taken hostage. 進(jìn)入這個(gè)地區(qū)的人，不管是誰，都有被劫為人質(zhì)的危險(xiǎn)。

另外，whoever sb is 也可用作習(xí)語（此時(shí)也可說成whoever sb may be），表示“不知道某人是誰”。如：

He says he bought the car from Frank, whoever Frank is. 他說他是從弗蘭克那里買的車，不知道這個(gè)弗蘭克是誰。

從用法上看，whoever可用于引導(dǎo)名詞性從句和讓步狀語從句。如：

Whoever uprooted that tree ought to be ashamed of themselves. 把樹連根撥起的那個(gè)人應(yīng)該感到羞恥。（引導(dǎo)主語從句）
