【問二】She drinks of the spring. 這句話如何理解呢？為什么要用介詞of呢？（廣州網(wǎng)友小林）　　

【答】我們知道，介詞是英語中非常活躍的一類詞，而of則是介詞中最活躍的一個，它表示的意思至少在10個以上。它的主要用法是表達“所有關(guān)系或所屬關(guān)系”，其次是跟動詞連用表示“有關(guān)、關(guān)于”，相當(dāng)于about。限于篇幅，就不能一一列舉了。

就網(wǎng)友上面這個句子來看，不知這位朋友是從哪里看到這句話的。我認為，She drinks of the spring. 是一個錯誤的句子，因為 drink 用作動詞無論及物還是不及物，后面跟of毫無意義，看來這個of是多余的。去掉以后，drink the spring 就講得通，意為“她現(xiàn)在喝泉水。”因為spring既可以指“泉”，也可以指“泉水”：A spring is a place where water comes up through the ground. It is also the water that comes from that place. 　　

還有一個可能，就是漏掉了the water，即應(yīng)為：She drinks the water of the spring. 　　

此外，以下三個說法都對，請比較這3個介詞的差異：　　

the water of the spring （所屬關(guān)系）　　

the water in the spring （存在關(guān)系）　　

the water from the spring （來源關(guān)系）　　

【問三】The robber robbed her of her bag. 這里介詞of如何理解呢。跟remind sb of sth, accuse sb of sth 等等這些結(jié)構(gòu)的of，這個介詞有區(qū)別嗎？如何理解這個of的用法? （廣州網(wǎng)友小林）　　

【答】剛才講到了of的基本情況。就The robber robbed her of her bag 這個句子而言，of表示“失去，脫離”的含義，它經(jīng)常跟表示“同類含義的動詞”連用。此外，英語的習(xí)慣表達也是：動詞+ sb. of sth. 例如：　　

This law will deprive us of our most basic rights. 這條法律將剝奪我們最基本的權(quán)利。　　

This method will free us of a whole lot of debt. 它會使我們擺脫巨額債務(wù)。　　

The soldiers have stripped the civilians of their passports, and every other type of document.士兵們已經(jīng)奪走了平民的護照以及所有其他類型的證件。　　

The experience cured him of any ambitions to direct again. 那次經(jīng)歷使得他放棄了任何再當(dāng)導(dǎo)演的想法。　　

The professor hoped to break the students of the habit of looking for easy answers. 教授希望改掉學(xué)生們不動腦筋就想找到答案的習(xí)慣。　　

The party leader has been relieved of his post. 這個黨的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人被免除了職務(wù)。　　

The company engaged in a deliberate effort to cheat them of their pensions. 公司涉嫌蓄意騙取他們的養(yǎng)老金。　　

關(guān)于remind sb of sth和 accuse sb of sth，不屬于這個類型。這里的of與上述問題不是一回事。
