(2) 21—99 的表示法。先說“幾十”，再說“幾”，中間加連字號：

(3) 101—999的表示法。先說“幾百”，后接and，再加末尾兩位數(或末位數)：

two hundred and six 206             four hundred and sixty 460

(4) 1000 以上的基數詞的表示法。先從右至左數，每三位數加一個逗號(即以此把數目分為若干段)。第一個逗號前的數為thousand(千)，第二個逗號前的數million(百萬)，然后一段一段地數：

6, 863 six thousand, eight hundred and sixty-three

45, 256 forty-five thousand, two hundred and fifty-six

365, 261 three hundred and sixty-five thousand, two hundred and sixty-one

50, 331, 250 fifty million, three hundred and thirty-one thousand, two hundred and fifty

【說明】① 英語沒有“萬”這個單位，要表示“萬”須借用thousand，如“一萬”用“十千”表示(ten thousand)，“十萬”用“百千”表示(one hundred thousand)。

② hundred, thousand, million等詞在讀數時不帶復數詞尾-s(即用單數形式)：

正：three hundred and thirty-five (335) / two thousand and forty-one (2041)

誤：three hundreds and thirty-five (335) / two thousands and forty-one (2041)

但是，若不是用于讀數，而是用于泛指許多，則用復數：

Thousands of people went there. 數千人去了那兒。

Millions of workers lost their work. 數百萬人失業。

③ 在hundred 后通常加上連詞，不過此and 在美國英語中可以省略。若讀數中沒有 hundred，則在thousand后加and。

2. 有關基數詞用法的幾點說明

(1) 表示整十的基數詞有時用于復數形式，表示人的歲數或年代：

The man died in his thirties. 這個人三十多歲就死了。

He joined the army in the eighties. 他于80年代參軍。

(2) 用基數詞表示時刻時要注意以下幾點：

① 若為整點鐘，則直接讀相應的基數詞；若為非整點鐘，則分別以“時”和“分”為單位用相應的基數詞讀出：

at twelve  在12點         at nine twenty-five 在9點25分

② 對于帶“分”的時間，也可借助past(過)和to(差)這兩個介詞來表示(在美國英語中用after表示“過”)。但是注意，這樣表示時“分”不能超過30，否則應作處理，如10:42應處理成“11點差18分”：

10:22 讀作twenty-two past (after) ten    9:46 讀作fourteen minutes to ten

以上分鐘后帶了minutes一詞。若“分”為5, 10, 15, 20 等五的倍數，則可省略minutes：

10:05 讀作five (minutes) past [after] ten  9:20 讀作twenty (minutes) past [after] nine

若“分”為15或45，可借用quarter 一詞；若“分”為30，可借用half一詞：

9:15 讀作a quarter past nine         6:30 讀作half past six

(3) 年份的讀法。通常以“百”為單位來讀：

1972 讀作 nineteen (hundred and) sixty-two

1995 讀作 nineteen (hundred and) ninety-five

【說明】① 除非在正式場合，其中的hundred and通常都省略。

② 對于2003這樣的年代通常以“千”為單位來讀：

2000 讀作 two thousand    2003 讀作 two thousand and three

1. 序數詞的表示法

(1) 以下是最基本的序數詞，學習者必須牢記：
