表進(jìn)行意義的四類介詞短語

一般說來，只有動(dòng)詞才表進(jìn)行意義，但是同學(xué)們知道嗎？有的介詞也可表進(jìn)行意義，并且它們常常構(gòu)成相應(yīng)的習(xí)語。這類習(xí)語不僅考試常考，而且許多同學(xué)在考試時(shí)只按字面意思去理解，所以往往弄錯(cuò)。本文擬以這類結(jié)構(gòu)作一歸納。

一、at+名詞

He was at dinner when I came. 我來時(shí)他正在吃飯。

She stayed at work when everybody else had gone home. 別人都回家了，她卻還在工作。

    The country has been at war with its neighbour for three years. 這個(gè)國(guó)家與鄰國(guó)交戰(zhàn)已有三年了。

類似的還有：

at cards 在玩牌                           at work 在辦公

at play  在玩耍                           at lunch 在吃中飯

at rest 在休息                              at table 在吃飯

at school 在上學(xué)                         at church 在做禮拜

at peace 和平時(shí)期                      at press 正在排印

有些結(jié)構(gòu)可能帶有冠詞或物主代詞：

at one’s meals 在吃飯               at one’s study 在學(xué)習(xí)

at the piano 在彈鋼琴                at the end (of) 在結(jié)束時(shí)

at the desk 在讀書

二、in+名詞

He is in the army. 他正在當(dāng)兵。

He’s been in politics all his life. 他一生從政。

Her husband was in business. 她丈夫是經(jīng)商的。

He looks tired. He is in need of a rest. 他看來很累了，需要休息一會(huì)兒。

有些結(jié)構(gòu)可能帶有冠詞：

三、on+名詞

Are you here on business or for pleasure? 你是來辦事還是來玩?

    The typist is away on holiday this week. 打字員本周休假。

    The man on watch didn’t notice the danger. 值班的人沒有注意到這危險(xiǎn)。

We have so arranged matters that one of us is always on duty. 我們做了這種安排，以便我們總有一個(gè)人值勤。

類似的還有：

on guard 在值勤                 on leave 在休假

on holiday 在度假                on strike 在罷工

on sale 出售                         on loan 借貸

有些結(jié)構(gòu)帶有冠詞：

on the boil 水正在開           on the move  在移動(dòng)，搬遷，離開

on the march 在行軍          on the watch 注意，提防

on the flow 在漲潮              on the turn 在轉(zhuǎn)折中

on the increase 正在增加  on the go 正在活動(dòng)，正在奔走

on the air 正在廣播             on the fly 正在飛行

四、under+名詞(名詞前有時(shí)有冠詞修飾)

Don’t worry. Everything is under control. 別擔(dān)心，一切都在控制之中。

That has no relation to the matter under discussion. 這和討論的問題沒有關(guān)系。
